Hi there!! My formal name is Valentina, but my foster mom calls me Elgie (as in Little Girl or LG).
Before I came to MPR I lived outdoors with lots of other dogs in a very rural area with little to no human contact. So, when I came to MPR I was very, very scared. All I wanted to do was escape. My foster mom was very patient, tempted me with treats and let me adjust at my own pace. Now I am ready to find a permanent home. Let me tell you more about me:
I am always ready to go outside, where I love, love, love to zoom around our fenced backyard. Sometimes I run so fast, my foster mom calls me Rocket. I would like to run and play with my foster mom's dogs, but they are older and not interested. I don't run for long, but it sure is fun.
Even though I like to run and am only about 2 years old, when I am in the house, I am very calm. I am house-trained and do not need to be crated when my foster mom is not home. My favorite thing is to snuggle with my foster mom's Yorkie. We are almost always in the same vicinity as foster mom. The Yorkie also has helped me learn how to be a house dog - like coming when called, staying off most furniture, etc.
I love to sleep on the bed with my foster mom. The Yorkie and I snuggle right up against her and keep her warm on cold nights. I even jumped up on the lap of the house/dog sitter who was here when foster mom was away. The sitter said I am "a sweet little girl."
My ideal home would have a fenced yard so I can zoom; another friendly dog for me to run, play and snuggle with and to help me continue to learn the doggie ropes; and a patient owner who will give me time to adjust to a new home.
I weigh about 20 pounds and am spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, up to date on flea/tick and heartworm prevention and heartworm negative. My adoption fee is $200. Apply today at www.mpravl.org/adopt-a-pet/available-dogs! I look forward to meeting you!
All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.
Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
