My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact foster at meghan.shew@yahoo.com

All about Rupert:

• Getting neutered on Monday, May 20th.

• Dog & cat friendly!

• Initially very excited and humping the other dog in foster, but after the first day he has calmed down A LOT and rarely did it anymore. Once he is neutered it should solve any of this behavior.

• Loves to go on walks with his foster brother and LOVES seeing other dogs on walks and wants to play. Loves seeing people on walks and wants pets from literally everyone.

• Likes to howl to “help” the firetrucks going by.

• Housetrained and sleeps through the night without any accidents.

• Such a sweet and gentle guy. Takes treats gently and is learning “sit” from his foster brother.

• Kids: Has allowed young children between the ages 2-4 to approach him. Greets them with friendly body language and wagging tail. A young girl around 4 years old pet him on the head and he gladly welcomed her pets. We saw a 1 year old in the park from a distance who was just learning to walk, and he barked and growled, so I think he didn’t know what it was from far away. Has had all positive experiences other than that one time. Might do better with kids 3-4+, however he is staying in a temp foster home this coming weekend with a 1-year-old and will have more notes on this!

• Complete velcro dog, follows you around the house and wants to be in your lap on the couch.

• Picky eater, will not eat dry food even when mixed with wet food. He is on a complete wet food diet. May be fine to eventually switch back to 1/2 dry 1/2 wet but for now he is eating well with all wet food.

• Loves to play with stuffed animals and chew on his Nyla bone.

• Will steal your shoes! So make sure you put them away before leaving the house, but other than that he is non-destructive and is left out without being crated. Has been left alone with the other foster dog in the home for almost 6 hours total without any issues.
