My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Samantha, a gorgeous Samoyed/Husky blend. She is 3 years old, and on the small side. She is 45 lbs of fluffy, gentle charm. Samantha's energy level strikes a perfect balance between zest for adventures and lounging. She's wonderful on walks and long hikes, yet also loves sitting in a backyard, park, at your feet, or cafe patio. She would love a family with people home often, love hikes, and have a fenced outdoors space. Potty trained and well-behaved indoors and in cars, Samantha is a breeze to have around. Her endearing habit of quietly howling along to passing fire trucks adds to her charm, but don't worry, she's remarkably quiet. With her gentle demeanor, Samantha gets along famously with kids and other dogs. Despite a cruel past, Samantha adored by her foster family and has learned to trust and embrace the joys of life like toys, zoomies, belly rubs, soft beds, and puddles. She is looking for (and deserves) a family that will shower her with goodness, kindness, and joy.

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

More about this rescue

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation
