My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kumquat is lots of fun and affectionate. She enjoys being around people and is an undemanding companion. She is good at entertaining herself playing with toys and also loves wands that require you to interact with her. This petite female still has lots of kitten energy. It's such a joy watching her zoom around showing off her athleticism and happy personality. Once she trusts you, she doesn't mind being picked up and is calm when cradled. Kumquat has good bed manners in that she wants the bedroom door open yet also understands bedtime is not playtime. She will be initially timid with strangers, and responds best to adults and calm, older children. Kumquat is very tidy with her litter box and is an excellent eater. She is still a bit food insecure - not uncommon with strays. Kumquat does not like other animals and must be your only kitty. Kumquat was born around March 2022.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Once you've filled out an application, we will contact your references and put you in touch with the foster/caregiver of the cat. Once your application is approved, we schedule you to attend an online group seminar on cat care. Then you would sign the adoption papers, pay the adoption fee, and make arrangements for the cat to be moved to your home. We always do a home visit which is both reassuring to the cat when it is being introduced and to the foster who has taken care of the cat. Presently we are doing home visits with FaceTime or Zoom to confirm you have secure windows, no toxic plants and a generally safe environment for a cat. The adoption fee is $150 for one cat under 7 years old, $75 for one cat 7 years and older.

All cats have been tested for the Feline Leukemia and FIV virus, vaccinated (FVRCP and Rabies vaccines), microchipped, dewormed and spayed/neutered. If you adopt kittens that are too young to be altered, we will arrange the spay/neuter/microchip at a later date at a partner vet.

More about this rescue

Anjellicle Cats Rescue is an all-volunteer registered 501c3 cat rescue committed to helping make New York a no-kill city. As one of the most active cat rescues in the 5 boroughs, ACR is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and adopting out homeless cats and kittens, many of which are sick, injured or dismissed as unadoptable. Through a coalition of volunteer advocates and caregivers, each rescued cat is welcomed with kindness and medical care into a foster home with the goal of adoption into a permanent, loving home. We believe that no animal should be ill-treated and strive toward a day when awareness, education and compassion have served to replace euthanasia as a solution to companion animal overpopulation.
