Good with dogs: Yes.  He mainly interacts with dogs on walks and at the dog park.  At the dog bark he will bark and then initiate play.
Good with cats: Has only met a cat once.  He wanted to chase and play with the cat and the cat was afraid of him.
Good with kids: Yes.  Lives with a 2 and 4 year old and is good with them.
Good with strangers: Yes.  If a stranger comes to visit he may bark at them if they are male.  He will go up and smell and greet them.  He may do a little pee.  He is fine once they have entered

Energy Level: Medium.
Leash skills: He walks well on leash and does not show concern with dogs/people/vehicles.  They walk him 20-45 min per walk.
Okay with physical handling/manipulations: Yes.  He is professionally groomed every 6-8 weeks and is co-operative for the groomer and is not muzzled.  They also do some grooming in between.  He has needed ear drops for infections.
Known commands: come, sit, stay, wait, bring, no, yes, eat, drink.
Food on now:  Pure Balance kibble.  3/4 cup, 2x/day.

Behavioural issues: He has always been sensitive to doors slamming.  He does not like to be picked up near his belly or near his hind legs.  They go under his front legs to pick him up.  He does not go up their hardwood stairs but can do carpeted stairs.
Medical issues: Developed a chronic/reoccurring skin condition this past year when they moved which has been treated with medicated treatments/shampoos and cytopoint and oral antibiotics.  He has had ear infections.  He has a fatty lump on a front leg.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our process begins with an online pre adoption questionnaire followed by a telephone interview
Once both have been completed we consider suitability and if we feel the adoption candidate is a potential match we arrange a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in
From there we schedule a home visit and check personal and veterinary references.

Go meet their pets

All our dogs are in foster homes so meet and greets are by appointment only

Foster Homes
Sadly, each new day brings a flood of emails and telephone pleas to help yet another abandoned dear dog. We try and help these displaced dogs through our rescue efforts and networking. We are always in search of new foster homes where a dog can be cared for and loved until a permanent home is found. Speaking of Dogs Rescue covers food, medical attention and all the supplies required for the dogs in foster care. Foster parents need be responsible and patient people who will provide a safe environment for our dogs. A foster contract must be signed. This is a serious responsibility; however the experience is very rewarding. If you can open your heart and home to a foster dog please contact us. We have a comprehensive Foster Manual available for people who are considering becoming a foster parent.
