My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To adopt please fill out an adoption application.

Zena is an 18 month old purebred German Shepherd Dog who was rescued from a bad situation in Memphis last summer. Zena has since been in her GSD-loving foster home where socialization and training have continued and where she enjoys the company of 2 other GSDs. Initially, Zena is wary of strangers but warms up quickly; in her video you can see she was friendly and trusting with the 2 strangers after about 5 minutes!  Loving, loyal, good guard dog, typical GSD temperament.   Great with other dogs and would enjoy a dog buddy in her new home. Great with kids and is very gentle with the young grandchildren who visit. Not cat tested.  Medium energy level outside, quiet and well-mannered in the house.  Crate trained and housebroken. Obeys basic commands.  Loves to be with her people.  Good on a leash, rides great in the car.  Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots, spayed, weighs about 85 pounds.  Zena’s ideal adopter will have GSD experience and the time/motivation to continue her training and socialization so she can reach her full potential. Beautiful young GSD will make a wonderful companion (and jogging partner) for an active family who loves the breed.

All our Good Dogs are in southern foster homes.

More about this rescue

Good Dog Rescue is an all-breed rescue group headquartered in the South. Our group is comprised of volunteers all over the Southeast who love dogs and want to help those that end up homeless through no fault of their own. Loyal and loving dogs turn up every day in Southern shelters, as owners turn them in or they’re found roaming the streets after being dumped. To the best of our abilities, we evaluate all of our Good Dogs’ temperament and suitability for living with other dogs, cats, and children. A dog’s health is checked, and we make sure they are up-to-date on all shots and are spayed or neutered. Then, we place them in loving foster homes until they find their very own family. Our goal is to meet the needs of each dog as an individual and to assure proper placement in a loving forever home.
