Girdie is a 3-year-old male who came in as a stray on 5/8.
Girdie is anything but bland. Variously described by staff and volunteers as affectionate, wiggly, having LOTS of personality, goofy, joyful, and a delightful oddball, Girdie guarantees many joyful memories for whoever takes him into their care.
During a behavioral assessment on 5/9, staff noted: "Girdie was a very interesting pup to hang out with- he has A LOT of personality. Once in the room Girdie ran around exploring and then ran back over to me submissive smiling. He was very affectionate and wiggly, leaning in and smushing himself into my lap for cuddles and attention. He did this with multiple other handlers as well. He was very handler oriented and while he was eager to explore he spent most of his time interacting with me while outside. At times while he ran around he would sway or faceplant, unsure if it was due to behavioral or medical (was flagged for medical) and would randomly plop over. It seemed more so like a behavioral quirk with stress and arousal added in. He allowed all over handling and would plop over into my lap often and allowed belly rubs as well. At times if he was too stressed or aroused he would begin to mouth but it was easy to calm him down again by grabbing the leash or talking to him. He showed knowledge of sit and took treats gently as well, but most of the time would spit them back out at me. He has a lot of personality and would benefit from placement that can help manage his high stress levels"
During an intake exam on 5/9, staff found Girdie in good general health.

Cats and kittens can always be adopted two for the price of one through our Adopt-A-Buddy program.
