My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

George Roberts is a friendly, sweet pup who loves people. Initially a little anxious, he opens up quickly, and will no doubt continue to blossom as he gets used to having a home. His funny little snoot and ears are an absolute delight, with all his black spots that look like someone dribbled ink on him. He likes to walk in the neighborhood, play a little, and then have a good long snooze in his crate or a nearby bed. He sleeps contentedly at night in his crate–even letting his humans sleep in one weekend without complaint. He is happy to have human visitors in his space, and doesn't even bark when folks ring the doorbell, greeting mail carriers and delivery folks with curiosity and ease. He wants to be with you whenever he can, but can also handle being left alone in his crate while you’re out, or nap on the sofa if you are in the other room with the door shut. He’s a compact 30 lbs, very gentle, and an absolutely lovely boy who charms everyone who meets him. (People will stop you on walks to say hi, he's just that cute and so well-behaved!)

Personality & Characteristics: George is a chill, silly little guy who is occasionally anxious but mostly unbothered by noise or bustle, even on busy streets or in a home with noisy neighbors.

My foster dog is good with: (Dogs, Kids, Cats) George is initially nervous about but also desperate to meet new dogs, and has done well in a home with other dogs in previous fosters. He has not been tested in a home with cats, but does not chase the strays he sees on walks. He has not been tested in a home with kids, but seems uninterested when they pass him on the sidewalk, even if they are running or loud. He is generally mellow and loves people, and would be adaptable to many different home environments.

My foster dog is: George is fully potty trained, loves the crate, and doesn’t shed very much.

3 Keywords for your pup: friendly, curious, mellow

Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 4-5

Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: George doesn’t bark very much at all, but he loves a good whine. He makes a variety of cute squeaky sounds as well, including funny yawns and, when he’s very happy or excited, an absolutely adorable soft howl of ”a-roo-roo!”

Walking Manners: George is good on a leash and doesn’t pull. He scavenges a little sometimes and wants to meet every dog that passes, but does well when redirected with a command and treats. He enjoys finding grassy spots and bushes to nose through, and would be especially happy to go for walks in the park, but all walks are good walks in George’s opinion!

Appetite: George is food motivated, loves a good treat or peanut butter kong, and has an average, healthy appetite for a dog his size.

Does the following: George doesn’t like water and isn’t a fan of the bath, but offering treats does help. He handled the subway very well, a challenge for even the most seasoned pups!

Favorite Things: George loves treats! He also likes rough-housing with his humans and playing tug, and gets cuddly once he’s comfortable enough. His favorite places to be pet are on his chest and under his chin, and he likes having things to chew on, like nyla bones, a stuffy, or the corner of a blanket.

Commands/Tricks: George knows “sit,” “wait” and “okay/get it”. He is working on “come,” “up-up” (to put his paws up on people only when invited) and “off.”

ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.

Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States
