Baxter's basic bio is below, but we maintain more detailed information about each of our animals on our website, which is also always up to date with animals removed immediately once they are adopted. Please visit Baxter's page on our site (https://www.muddypawsrescue.org/adoptable?dog=007630) to learn even more about Baxter!
Additionally, please note that the breed listed for Baxter is just our best guess based on the dog's physical features. We cannot make any guarantees about the accuracy of our guesses.

Hi, I'm Baxter, though I'm still learning that it's my name, not just a word. I'm a 100% good boy, cute and gentle, with eyes like amber. People keep commenting on how chill and well-behaved I am, so it must be true!
Dear Diary, We started my second week in the city, and I've been on so many adventures I'm really getting used to the sights and sounds. Today, I wahoooo'd with the passing fire truck and made everyone laugh, but otherwise, I'm a quiet guy. I've taken a bath and get my paws wiped every time we come home (I sit pretty for paw-time because I can't take my shoes off!). The subway is still loud to me, but I make friends and love the attention; I had lots of fun at a BBQ and the wine store (they give me treats so of course, I make sure we go often!).
Things I love: people, other dogs, all the smells, belly rubs, plopping down wherever I am when I'm exhausted (they walk a lot in this city, I like to take it in!) Kids - they are fun, about my size, and tend to drop snacks, but I'm good when told to "leave it". Grass. Watching squirrels and people kicking balls. I've made some friends, as I tend to sit and wait to say hello versus jumping on people. My neighbor has been showing me the ropes of being a "city dog" he's so cool, I follow his lead and like to steal his toys unless he says no. I love chew toys - I have lots of rope toys because I learned to play tug and I also have a lick mat, but I guess I wasn't meant to chew that... Oh, I prefer Cashew butter to peanut butter and bananas fresh or frozen in my Kong but no cucumber or blueberries. I do enjoy ice cubes, too; good cronch.
Things I'm not yet a fan of are wheely things, suitcases, it's the clackety sounds I don't like, but I'm no longer afraid of bikes, and only jump when the trucks make big sounds. This week I mastered doors: my curiosity won out! Oh, and I do like the elevator and going upstairs, down the stairs, um - where do they lead?!? My foster had to carry me, but I'm light and don't squirm.
My crate and house training has really progressed. I prefer to be in the same space as the human, but I'll chill in my crate with a Kong and nap for hours if I have to. As for potty outdoors, I like to pee and then go for a walk and will only poo in one place on the street before we go back inside.
I can't wait to meet my adopter and show them my good boy skills on May 18th. I'm going to work hard on my sit until then (or maybe I'll nap).
