You know the Red Sonja comic book character as an accomplished sailor and fearless adventurer. Well *this* Red Sonja is even more fearless than the other one, because she's successfully navigating this world (and raised three babies) without eyes! Red Sonja was born this way and has adapted beautifully to life. Seriously, she's truly incredible. When she first arrived in her foster home, she hid for a couple of days, only coming out when her foster mom wasn't around. She used that time to map her surroundings and listen to her human's routine. Then one morning she was like okay, cool, I've got this down, we can be friends now. And she has been a friendly cuddly girl ever since! She even immediately figured out all the changes when her foster mom rearranged her living space. One might even question whether she secretly has eyeballs because her reactions are so accurate.
Red Sonja was an excellent mom to three kittens and seems to be looking forward to reclaiming her status as the house baby herself. She, after all, is just a big kitten herself and is always up to play. But, as is the case with most cats, she's also a big fan of chilling out time, especially if that chilling out time is on a lap, and bonus points for a lap that is bathed in sunlight. Red Sonja is always up for meeting new people. When she meets a new person, she needs a bit of an introduction period where she figures out what they're about. But once she does, she'll ask for love! And Red Sonja would love to meet you-fill out an application today!

City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCKR.
City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines, as age appropriate. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care.
The kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes a veterinary exam, deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.
