My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All AHHS animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate).
Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

Introducing Anderson! Anderson joined the AHHS under unexpected circumstances. He was brought in by an individual stating that he had been dumped on their property. We aren't quite sure why anyone would dump such a wonderful dog. Anderson, Andy for short, is truly a charmer. He has won us all over in such a short time. His personality is fantastic, and he just loves attention. He is dog friendly and would do fine in a home with children! Anderson deserves a life of comfort and love given his unfortunate past. Could you be that provider? If so, email Halee at halee@ahhumanesociety.org with questions or apply on our website at ahhumanesociety.org.May 19, 2024, 9:46 pm

More about this rescue

Appalachian Highlands Humane Society, former known as The Humane Society of Washington County, was primarily an organization that provided spay and neuter funding for low income families. Spay and neutering is still at the front of our organization but we have also incorporated fostering and adoptions of animals. We are committed to see our community to become a no kill community. Our organization is not funded by local government, we rely only on spay neuter grants and fund raising. To continue to grow, we need donations for our programs and those links are available on our website under giving. We also need volunteers. The volunteer application is also available on our website. Working together we will become a no kill community. Please visit our website, www.ahumanesociety.org for more information.
