Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a
question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If
interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.

Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit.

Meet Hawkeye! Hawkeye is a 12 year old, 5 pound Yorkie who came to us from an overcrowded shelter. He was suffering from kidney problems and dental disease when we lovingly brought him in to our rescue.

Hawkeye received a dental which took away his pain. He was also given a special kidney diet and is doing well. The cost for this food is $40 a month. Due to his age, Hawkeye requires a belly band to help with pee-pee accidents. He will sometimes use pee pads and has been known to poop on the floor. Hawkeye has good vision and hearing and gets along well with cats and dogs. He walks well on a leash, sleeps in a dog bed, and can handle minimal stairs. Due to his tiny size, Hawkeye would do best in a home with older children or an adult-only home.

This little man is happiest in somebody’s arms. Hawkeye loves being snuggled and cuddling on the couch. He is a very affectionate dog. If Hawkeye goes missing in the house, his foster mom knows to check the nearest sun spot. He gets excited when mealtime comes, and there is no such thing as too many treats. (At least in his mind!) Hawkeye deserves a loving, warm home to spend his golden years in. Can it please be with you? Apply today!

More about this rescue

We are a small, dedicated group of fosters and volunteers. We strive to improve the lives of senior dogs who find themselves without a family to care for them anymore. We do not have a facility. Our dogs live in our homes as members of our families. We provide care, comfort, companionship and, most of all, unconditional love. We have worked in senior rescue for years, and see the continuing and growing need to get them out of shelters where they are often euthanized because of their age and/or medical reasons, or from owners that find themselves in crisis and no longer able to care for their companions (nursing home, illness, abusive situations, etc).

Senior Dog Haven and Hospice is a registered 501(c)3. All donations to our rescue are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
