Valka came to us on a transport from an overcrowded Texas shelter; when she first arrived she was a bit discombobulated. Now that she`s settling into our Dedham Colony Room, Valka has decided that the Bay State is okay by her and she`s enjoying gentle pets (watch her video!). Valka has the most adorable little meow that she loves to share with just about anyone she meets! Valka seems to enjoy the company of other kitties in her new space, so she might be a good candidate if you`re looking to add a feline to your crew!

Valka is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston is committed to matching adoptable animals with a permanent home. Our conversation-based, application-free adoption process is designed so that the needs of both the animal and the adopter are understood and compatible with one another. We require the following as part of the adoption process:
* Adopter must be 18 years of age or older
* A current government-issued ID (no student IDs)
* Have a conversation with an ARL adoption counselor
* A photo of the cage your pet will live in, if adopting a small animal or bird

Situated 10 miles southwest of Boston on the beautiful grounds of the former summer sanctuary for the city’s working horses, ARL’s newly remodeled shelter in Dedham, Massachusetts is just a glimpse into ARL’s bold future. The new modern shelter design allows us to provide even more animals with high-quality direct animal care that meets best-practice standards in animal welfare.

The 27-acre property serves as ARL’s main livestock center and is home to Pine Ridge Pet Cemetery, the oldest continuously operated pet cemetery by a humane society in the United States.
