My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Atlas's basic bio is below, but we maintain more detailed information about each of our animals on our website, which is also always up to date with animals removed immediately once they are adopted. Please visit Atlas's page on our site (https://www.muddypawsrescue.org/adoptable?dog=007642) to learn even more about Atlas!

Additionally, please note that the breed listed for Atlas is just our best guess based on the dog's physical features. We cannot make any guarantees about the accuracy of our guesses.

PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO VOLUME, WE ARE GENERALLY UNABLE TO RESPOND TO INQUIRIES MADE USING THE 'ASK ABOUT ME' BUTTON. Please reach out to us directly using the contact information on our website: www.muddypawsrescue.org.

Are you into sustainability, composting, and peace? Then this pup's for you!

Meet Atlas - This 60 pound portable personal heater grumbles like an old diesel engine when he's scritched in the right places. But don't worry - he runs on a steady diet of cuddles, love, and kibble. No fossil fuels here.

He's also really into conservation! He likes to conserve energy by lying in his crate. Or on the couch. Or the floor. Or your lap! He is also happy to help reduce your home heating bill by acting as your personal body/bed warmer and weighted blanket. When you aren't around, he likes to charge up by being snuggled under blankets or towels.

While he's mostly a kibble machine, Atlas accepts bio-fuels of any kind and converts them into pure 97-octane gas with enough power to boil your ramen. An astounding feat of engineering!

Atlas is also a big peacenik and likes to bring an aura of warmth and calm. He combines the zen of a capybara with the chassis of a small hippo - a veritable peace tank. His preferred sports are olympic sleeping, pro-level napping, competitive snooze, and some light amateur guarding/patrolling when he feels up for it. Fetch and tug toys are great - for about 5 minutes at a time.

This lovely velvet potato is a certified A+ cuddler with a bit of a velcro-dog streak. If his giant head and deep soulful sighs don't immediately put you at ease and decrease your stress levels, you should seek emergency medical advice.

One note - Atlas is immensely curious but also a bit cautious/skittish about new and loud things. There is also a chance that he may try to counter-surf if left unattended. While we have always been careful to crate him or monitor him, he isn't shy about getting his front paws up on tables and windowsills to see what's on top or outside. On walks, he sometimes gets very focused on things he doesn't understand - aliens (motorcyclists with big helmets), monsters (cats and racoons), interdimensional incursions (bright lights and radios playing loud music). He isn't reactive or aggressive about it, but it can take a little coaxing to get him moving again.
