My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IVYWOOD NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:  Ivywood         Best Guess for Breed:  Shepherd and lab mix

Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of March 2024     SEX:  Female

Approximate Weight:  31 lbs

Gets Along With:   Other dogs! Ivywood has lived with a two year old child and done well. We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested.

Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.

Ivywood is Looking For:  Her forever home! Through no fault of her own, this sweetie now needs a new home. She's in her prime as a young adult dog and eager to have her own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up. More than that, though, she's dreaming of being well-loved (at 31 pounds, she is an excellent size for snuggling!) and safe and under her own roof for all her days.

She has so much to offer - adoring gazes and happy tail wags and loyal companionship. Can you see her by (or on) your lap and your life?

What My Foster Says About Me:  Ivywood is a real cuddlebug! She loves to cuddle up on the couch with us. She also loves to run and romp in the backyard with my dogs, and play with them. She is more comfortable in the suburbs and the country at the moment -- the noises of the city make her a little nervous, but with time and patience she could learn to adjust. She is doing really well in her crate at night, and she is very gentle with my toddler, so she would probably be a good fit for for a family with small kids, particularly those who love dogs. She is working on her leash manners too! This sweet girl really wants a place where she can curl up and relax with her people.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
