My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there, pals! The name's Hazelnut, and I'm on a mission to find my forever family. I'm a young adult, but don't let that fool you—I've still got plenty of kitten-like charm to go around. Sure, I might start off a bit shy, but once I've got trust in you, get ready for a purr-fect storm of snuggles and affection!
I'm a work in progress with playing with toys. But what I lack in toy-tackling skills, I more than make up for in my love for attention and pets from my humans. I’ll strut right up to you and demand my fair share of cuddles, then proceed to purr up a storm like there's no tomorrow. I'm all about cozying up by your side or snagging a primo spot on your lap.
I'm pretty low-key and low-energy. I thrive in a chill environment where we can kick back and be best buds. I've got a knack for hiding around kids, so the quieter home is the better for me. But fear not, I'm a social butterfly when it comes to my furry companions and adult humans. If you've already got a cat in the mix, I'm game to be their new partner in crime! I play with my foster friends often and we all nap in bed together.
I had a home and family once upon a time, but life threw me a curveball, and I found myself at the shelter. Luckily, a rescue swooped in to save me from that scary cage life. Think you've got room in your heart and home for a lovable furball like me? Let's make it official—maybe you're the family I've deserved all along!

Additional adoption info

FEES:
Dogs are $250
Puppies under 1 year are $275
Cats and kittens are $185

All animals have been spayed/neutered, received age appropriate vaccinations, had a heart-worm test, a Feline Leukemia test and a fecal check and are dewormed, microchipped and current on heart-worm and flea preventative medications at the time of adoption.

Adopters must be 21 and have a valid Texas driver’s license or a state-issued ID that matches the home address. If new to the area, a utility bill in the name of adopter will suffice. Renters must present proof of pet deposit or landlord approval to have a pet.

We require that you visit with a pet and adoption counselor. We prefer that all family members be present when the pet is introduced to its potential new family. Current pets are welcomed and encouraged to be part of the meeting too.

If a good match is found, adopters complete an application. Same day adoptions may be done; however, Habitat 4 Paws reserves the right to request a home visit prior to adoption. We do not hold pets nor do we adopt on a first-come/first-serve basis.

Go meet their pets

Nearly every weekend our pets that are ready for adoption are featured at locations such as Petsmart, Pet Supplies Plus and other locations. We can also arrange visits throughout the week. Check out the Events page of our website for a current schedule of events: www.habitat4paws.org.

More about this rescue

The mission of H4P is to rescue and find permanent homes for dogs and cats while caring for them in a volunteer-staffed facility and foster program. We are currently raising funds for a building and in the interim are a foster based group.

Beyond just sheltering animals, we are proactive in other areas that will help keep animals out of municipal shelters. Paws Pantry animal-food bank collects and distributes dog and cat food to those in need. H4P hosts microchip clinics so that animals will have a permanent ID and can be reunited with their owners.
