My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ryce has experienced way to much in her 2 years of life. Besides being left outside to get pregnant she was shot in her yard and ended up having to have her left front leg amputated. Ryce has maintained a love for people and life. At 50 lbs, she is a strong dog who prefers to be out of the crate. She has picked up potty training and lives with other dogs. With good care in her foster home she is thriving and is ready to start screening people to be her family.

More about this rescue

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs). Visit our website to learn more about us at heartofamericahs.org.
