THIS DOG IS NOT AT THE ANIMAL SHELTER. Johnny has mange - but he will get better. I plan to foster him at my place until he is improved enough to be adopted. We have done all his medical (neuter, vaccinations, heartworm and lyme test, worming) because optimal health will help him improve faster. Also, he is on a diet of Nutro Puppy Ultra mixed with Missing Link vitamin supplement and yogurt. Johnny is a great dog - only about 8 months old. He has demodex mange which is not contageous. He is friendly with dogs, cats and kids, but due to his condition I cannot put him with other dogs to play right now. He has open wounds from scratching. It will take a few weeks - but he will improve. Unfortunately mange is something we are seeing in Bridgeport far too often. The condition is caused by a weakened immune system. So often this occurs because it is the belief of alot of people that to separate the pup from its mother in the first few weeks of life will make the puppy nicer. Johnny is very loving and wants to please all the time, but he needs help now to overcome the mange. If you are interested in Johnny - I am happy to show him to you. If you would like to donate towards his care - boy would we really appreciate that. Even if you dropped off the food he needs at the shelter that would be a great help (Nutro Puppy Ultra). If you leave a bag for him at the Bridgeport Animal Shelter, please put his name on it. We are a non profit and our address is FOBAS, P.O. Box 5131, Bridgeport, CT. As you can see, we make every attempt to save every dog that is a kind, gentle, family pet. We have not had to let even one dog go due to lack of funds.. I really, really aprpeciate all the support. I thank you and the dogs thank you. 6/10/06 NEW UPDATED PICTURE ATTACHED! LOOK HOW MUCH BETTER HE LOOKS! NOW THA THE HAS GROWN IN HIS FUR WE CAN SEE HIS A RED NOSED PIT MIX.
