My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

Estimated birth date: 8/1/23

Personality: Curious, Energetic, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Inquisitive, Playful, Sweet, Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc)

Favorite treats: green and yellow bell pepper, cilantro, Oxbow hay treats

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Guinea Pig Food, Veggies, Leafy Greens, Western Timothy Hay

Favorite toys and activities: Theresa loves hanging out in her pigloo, listening to calming music, exploring her enclosure and moving her things around. She loves hay chews and her puffy cushion.

Potty trained: Haven't tried

This animal’s daily routine: Morning: pellets, vitamin C, and hay; poo clean out mid-morning; floor/lap time in the evenings on weekdays and afternoon on weekends; evening dinner salad; poo clean out and hay refresh at night before bedtime; bedtime gets 'tucked in' - top and back of cage covered with a light blanket

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Theresa & Elsa are currently getting to know each other. At this time, they must be adopted together.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: rabbit - no direct contact but can hear and smell him, doesn't react; guinea pig in other room - no direct contact, doesn't react; cat - freezes at first and then indifferent

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Theresa does not have contact with children in her foster home

Health concerns: None

Behavioral concerns: Theresa is new to her foster home, so we are working on being okay with people being around her and hands being on her cage. She responds well if spoken or sung to in a soft voice. She is becoming more secure with having hands in her cage to feed her and spot clean poo. She will go in her hide, but is running away fearfully less and less each day. She has started peeking her head out of her pigloo and then resuming exploring when someone is sitting quietly by her cage and talking to her or playing calming music.

Other notes: Theresa is shy, but also a very sweet and playful pig who just needs some additional time and patience to come out of her shell.

Theresa was found outside and brought to animal control. She was then transfered into our care.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Petsmart - 8460 Tamarack Village, Woodbury, MN 55125 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Theresa & Elsa will have a combined adoption fee of $60

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.

Theresa's care while in rescue has not yet been sponsored. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for Theresa or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.

More about this rescue

MN Pocket Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization primarily serving the Twin Cities Metro Area, focusing on education and public outreach. Our intent is to keep all animals in their homes, with their families, whenever possible. We are committed to rescuing those pocket pets that are in jeopardy of being euthanized or are in danger of being abused, left unattended or in other types of vulnerable situations. We ensure all animals receive proper veterinary care, medication and special training for any behavioral issues, as well as to arrange safe, temporary homes for these animals until stable forever homes can be found. Our team is made up of enthusiastic volunteers who work passionately to serve the underrepresented and often misunderstood niche of pocket pets in the overall rescue community and general public.
