My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marbles is available for our foster-to-adopt program

Marbles is a 1.5 year old, 15-pound female terrier mix from Tijuana, Mexico! Marbles is a loving, sweet, and affectionate pup.

She has adjusted well during her time in the suburbs of Norwalk, CT. Marbles enjoys getting belly rubs, playing fetch with a squeaky toy inside, and recently learned the joys of walks in her suburban neighborhood. Marbles was timid when she first joined our family but has since trusted her foster mom and actively seeks her out for walks, play, and pets.

Marbles will sit for treats and her food but will need her new family to help her learn other commands! She is very willing to please and seems to be food motivated.

During her time with her foster family, she is almost completely housetrained with only a few accidents. We are training her to go exclusively outside and have not used pee pads with her.

Marbles feels very comfortable going on walks in her quiet suburban neighborhood and is very eager to walk and smell everything around her. She likes to walk quickly and pays particular attention to all of her rabbit and squirrel friends on walks so her new family will have to continue to reinforce her leash skills. Marbles takes daily walks with her two foster-fur-siblings.

Marbles’ forever family will need to continue working with her to reinforce and advance the progress she has been making.

Marbles has access to a crate but chooses to sleep on her dog bed or on the couch (who wouldn’t!). With the exception of the occasional accident, she is completely fine when left alone at home when we are at work.

Marbles loves to be cozy with her foster mom. While it took some time for Marbles to trust her, they have created a very fun and loving bond that we feel can be replicated with her forever family as well.

Marbles is looking for a medium-activity level family. She appreciates downtime but as we get to know Marbles more, she has shown us her fun and spunky side too. She would be fine living with or without another pup in the house. She currently resides with 2 other dogs who are low / medium energy although she hasn’t really romped around with them yet, they just peacefully coexist at this time. We would recommend that Marbles go to a home with older children who will be respectful of the time it takes Marbles to open up but think older children would be very fun for her since she does love to play fetch inside and is eager to go on walks.

Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply for Marbles, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

STEP 1: Apply!
Download and complete an ADOPTION APPLICATION from www.waggytailrescue.org/adopt-a-waggytail

STEP 2: The Meet and Greet!
We strongly suggest the ALL members of the household come to the meet and greet. This is the time to determine whether a dog's personality is match for you, your family and your other animals, and if you have allergies. If everything goes well you may adopt the same day, or take a day or two to decide, but we cannot indefinitely hold dogs in foster care for you.

STEP 3: Contract and Donation!
Fill out and sign the TRANSFER AGREEMENT.

The DONATION FEE may be paid by Venmo (@WaggytailRescue) or Paypal (waggytailrescue@gmail.com, add $15 processing fee). Please put the name of the dog in the memo section! Electronic payment is preferred!
You may also pay by check (payable to Waggytail Rescue), however processing of adoptions may be delayed by up to 2 weeks.
If your new buddy is not yet neutered, a $100 refundable deposit must be paid at adoption.

Dog Donation Fees
(includes microchip registration, age appropriate vaccines, and neuter)

$550 for puppies under 1 year
$450 for dogs 1 to 8 years
$325 for seniors over 9 years of age

Please add an additional $15 when paying by PayPal to cover processing fees.
Add $100 neuter deposit for unfixed animals.
