A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Special Needs? Choco is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Choco is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Choco is part of a group of dogs that are currently recovering from extremely poor living conditions. The conditions that we are clearing include sarcoptic mange, skin infections from dirty conditions and lack of grooming, intestinal parasites, and respiratory infections. Every dog has at least one of these conditions; some have multiple. Full records will go with every dog. Choco will not be medically ready for a forever home until mid-June. We are accepting applications to adopt now.

What kind of home would be best for me? Choco was born to be in a home and nestled into his loving human's lap. Choco would do well in either an apartment or a house. His adopter can be single, a couple, or a family. He would probably do best with older children that understand although he is a tiny guy, Choco is not a toy. He could live with other dogs or as your only pet. Choco simply want to go to a loving home that will be patient with him as he adjusts to his new surroundings.
What is my personality like? Choco arrived in rescue as part of a very large surrender from his breeder. Our experience is that most of these dogs have not had a lot of socialization or opportunities to live as pets, but they are incredibly gentle and kind. They simply need a patient home that will allow them to blossom into a loving companion.
Choco's adopters will need to teach him his basic commands like sit, stay, come, down, etc. Choco walks on a leash but does not like it so leash training should be in his future. He wants his new adopter to be home more than they're away so he can quickly learn to be your BFF and have a lap to jump in and be loved on constantly.
Choco has a meet and greet personality. He meets and greets everyone. He's fine with people, cats, and dogs, but people are his favorite. You won't be able to say no to this little sweetheart. Come let him give you lap a test run. You'll both end up winning if you do.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Choco will walk right up to you and say hey. Then he'll try and find a way into your lap. Choco loves people and want nothing more than to hop into your lap for some loving.
Other tips and tidbits: Choco was estimated at 2 years old by our veterinary partner. We celebrate his birthday 4/19/2022.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
