My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet sweet, smart, silly Roo! This girl is approximately 5-6 months old, and she’s truly an awesome dog. Her DNA results indicated she`s 41% German Shepherd, about 29% pittie, with smaller percentages of malamute and husky. Roo is super smart and is both potty and crate trained. She`s very good and quiet in her crate all night and is accustomed to hanging out in her crate off and on throughout the day as well. If there`s another dog in the home, she does experience some separation anxiety and whines a bit if she sees her people leaving the house with the other dog while she`s left in the crate. But otherwise, she`s very good in the crate. Roo has learned basic commands like “sit,” “down,” and `shake,` and we have started working on `stay` and `wait` (before going out the front door), which she’s quickly getting the hang of. She’s pretty great at walking on a leash (with a harness), and she enjoys going for long walks, though she can sometimes get a little overstimulated out in the world, especially if she`s walking with another dog.

Roo loves meeting other dogs and people. So far she`s only gotten to play with her foster sister (a 7-year-old lab), and two other dogs, but she`s greeted several other dogs out on walks, and she`s always been good and very excited to interact with them. She seems curious about cats and does not seem to have a strong prey drive towards them, but she doesn`t have any up-close experience with them.

Overall, Roo is a really good, smart, playful, energetic girl. She wants to please her people, she`s treat and praise motivated, and she generally responds well to redirection when she’s doing something she’s not supposed to be doing. She’s pretty good at entertaining herself, but she also loves to play with people and dogs. She loves tummy rubs, comfy dog beds, fetching a ball, and flopping around in the grass. Roo rarely barks, but she is fairly vocal when playing with other dogs, and she does make occasional other funny sounds around the house when she`s feeling playful or looking for attention.

Roo would do great in a home with another young, playful, assertive dog to keep her company. She would also be fine as the only dog in the home, as long as her people are home a significant amount of the time to play with her, exercise her, and spend time with her. Roo is a great hiking buddy, and would also make an excellent running partner. She`s very playful and energetic, and with continued training and
