LOTUS NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Lotus Best Guess for Breed: Husky/Sheltie mix
Best Guess for Age: 2 years old as of Match 2024 SEX: female
Approximate Weight: 34lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! Lotus lives with another dog and a cat and does well with both. Because Lotus is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. Due to her shy personality, we do not recommend her for a home with children under the age of 12.
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Special adoption considerations: Lotus is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Lotus is Looking For: Her forever home! This young girl is eagerly looking forward to her new one. The one where she gets her own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures her family can dream up. She hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and is looking forward to making new pup and people pals along the way. Exploring all the toys to see what she likes best, quality kibble, and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list as well. Lotus is also shy and because of this, she is looking for a home with another dog to show her the ropes.
She's up for snuggling too - and promises lots of adoring gazes and love and loyalty for all her days. What do you say? Is this sweetie the one you can see by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: Lotus is a sweet girl who loves to be around other dogs. She is still learning how to engage in play, but for now she is content to trot after my resident dog, lay on the couch with him, and go on walks around our neighborhood. Lotus also does well with cats, as we have one in our home. Lotus is still a bit shy, but when I move slowly to pet her and pick her up, she is very gentle. Lotus is doing well with potty training and sleeps well during the night in her crate. With her long fur, we brush her often which she seems to enjoy. Lotus will need an adopter who is committed to her continued socialization to help her continue to come out of her shell.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
