Sunny was originally found as a stray, so not much is known about her past. Early on in her time with us, she was chosen to attend the Puppies for Parole program where they worked on House training, crate training, basic obedience, leash skills, and socialization skills. And while that time was an excellent start for her, she is going to need a patient adopter who is willing to take the time to provide consistency for her. She did very well with the routine her trainer set, and she was adopted straight out of the program. However, she doesn't do well with children as she tried to take their toys from them. She would be best suited for someone who has had experience with owning dogs, because while she has an excellent personality, she is one that if you give her an inch, she'll take a mile! She is an active girl that loves to go outside and play. Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Weight: 44.6 Age: 1yrs 6mths 0wks

More about this shelter
Dogwood Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill shelter.
Since its infancy, compassionate, like-minded volunteers have been the driving force behind Dogwood Animal Shelter. Through auctions and sales, a handful of dedicated people raised enough money to build its first, albeit small facility and was established as a 501(c) 3 in 1976. It was filled beyond capacity almost immediately.
The shelter is funded entirely from donations and proceeds from their Dogwood Animal Shelter Thrift Store.
After years of saving, planning and busting at the seams with fur-babies, in 2005 it was time to build a new facility with their own in-house clinic! Under the direction of Dr. John Reinhold and coupled with a very dedicated and gifted team of Veterinarians and staff, Dogwood Animal Shelter continues to offer low cost spays and neuters to the public as well as services to their shelter buddies; services to approximately 2,000 dogs and cats yearly!
Dogwood Animal Shelter began their journey of being a successful no-kill shelter in 1997, and since then has saved over 40,000 lives!
