My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Oakley, a spirited 3-year-old looking for his forever home. Found as a stray in Sweetwater, Oakley has a heart full of love and a playful spirit that brightens any room. This energetic pup enjoys playtime and would thrive in a home where he can run, jump, and explore to his heart's content. Whether it's a game of fetch, a leisurely walk, or just some cuddles on the couch, Oakley is ready to be your loyal companion. If you're looking for a furry friend to bring joy and excitement into your life, Oakley is the perfect match for you. Give this sweet boy the loving home he deserves!

More about this shelter

Concern over a large, and ever increasing, population of homeless dogs and cats, instigated the opening of the Monroe County Animal Shelter.
A not-for-profit organization, Monroe County Friends of Animals help the shelter by providing volunteers, fundraising events, grant writing and more. There is always a need for more volunteers. With a small budget, donations are a welcome necessity. We have developed educational programs to promote spay/neuter and humane care of all animals.
