My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Flint, I`m approximately 4 years old and currently weigh about 80#. I came to Macomb County Animal Control on March 27, 2024 after I was hit by a car and dislocated my left shoulder. Upon further examination, it was also discovered that I was Heartworm positive, so for the last 2 months the amazing staff and volunteers have been taking care of me which included several trips to the vet ( I had to wear a cast for almost 2 months), medications and Heartworm injections. The wonderful Veterinarians now say that I am ready to go into my furever home, but I will need a very special home that will consist of knowledge of my breed and characteristics, take me on my follow up visit to the Veterinarian in July (in Flint), making sure that my activity is limited to short walks as I continue to gain strength in my leg/shoulder, limited stairs would be ideal and a home that can give me lots of my favorite snacks (Hot dogs and cheese, oh how I love them!!!).

I have had limited interactions with the other dogs since being here due to my injury, but I have been allowed to be a dog that has very low energy and I did fine, I would probably do best as an only dog at the moment until I have gained all my strength back, it wouldn`t be ideal for another dog to jump on me or want to rough house. I have never lived with cats or had the opportunity to interact with any since being here, so if you have one, slow and proper introductions will be necessary for us to live in harmony. I should be fine with children over the age of 10, but I would like to meet them first to make sure that we are the perfect fit.

If you are interested in meeting me or another homeless pet at Macomb `County Animal Control, they are open M-F from 10am-4pm.

Hope to see you soon,

Love, Flint

My adoption fee is $300 which helps to cover the cost of all the sick and injured animals that Macomb County Animal Control takes in every year.

If you are unable to Foster or Adopt a homeless pet, please consider making a monetary donation to the Macomb County Animal Welfare Fund so we can continue to help pets like Flint.
