My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mila is a lovely sleek soft brown and black tabby with huge green eyes and orange highlights.
She came to Abbey Cats from a shelter when she was pregnant and gave birth to 4 adorable kittens.

Mila has been a great mom to the babies, feeding them, bathing them, and making sure that they stay out of trouble!
Now that her babies are getting close to weaning, she is ready to move to her own home and be a young cat again!

Mila is incredibly playful.
We noticed shortly after the babies were born that she was delighted to chase after balls and springs or jump for hanging toys.
She will amuse herself by wrestling with a ball or anything stuffed with catnip, but she especially loves it when we play with her and will race back and forth in the foster room.
She also loves jumping inside cardboard boxes. She is ready to have a larger space to explore.

Mila also loves sitting on the windowsill and watching what is going on outside, or even just watch her kittens run around the room.
She loves her food, gets excited for anything perceived to be a treat, and almost always finishes everything on her plate.

Mila is incredibly friendly and purrs all of the them.
She loves getting her chin scratched, and often rolls on her back asking for tummy rubs.

Mila will do well in any home where she can get some attention and play time and some space to explore.
We think that she will get along with other cats although we have not really seen this since the resident cats at her foster home are not so inviting.
She has tried to make friends with them and we think with a more receptive cat she would like to have a friend.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

***Please bear in mind that it is against Abbey Cat policy to adopt a single kitten under the age of 6 months to a home without a kitten of similar age for company.***

Due to an unprecedented demand (especially for kittens) we regret that we are unable to respond by phone to all of the applications we are currently receiving.

We are only able at this time to phone those applicants who have sent in an online adoption application, can provide a vet reference and their criteria matches what the particular cat or kittens' needs are.

We regret any inconvenience caused as we do our best to meet the overwhelming demand we are currently experiencing.

We want to make sure that our rescued cats and kittens go to good, loving homes so before we adopt, an adoption counselor will conduct a short pre-adoption interview to make sure that you and the cat are a good match.

More about this rescue

Abbey Cat Adoptions is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to finding permanent homes for unwanted cats and kittens throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
Each year, ACA rescues cats from outdoor environments and overcrowded shelters.
Our cats live in a network of volunteer foster homes throughout the GTA until they are adopted into suitable, loving homes; we do not have a shelter.
We are not government funded and we have no paid staff; we rely exclusively on the generosity of like-minded animal lovers to fund our program.
