My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 5 years
Weight: 4.88 kg

The type of kitty that likes a calm and quiet home, Shay isn't having a very fun time here in the shelter. With all of its noises, smells, and random strangers, it's no wonder he's staying hidden all the time. That's why Shay is hoping to find a calm, quiet home with no other pets or children that could stress him out. Having a new family with previous experience with shy cats is a plus as they'll have to go slow to gain his trust. However, it was noted that Shay was actually pretty playful and loved to run around in his previous home! He's also a big fan of cheek scratches and enjoys company while he eats his meals. Who knows what else you'll discover about this fearful feline; maybe he's an avid cuddler? An explorer extraordinaire? An amazing conversationalist? Take a chance on the shy Shay and discover everything about one another together!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
