Chanel von Colditz is a stunning, 7-8 month-old German Shepherd. She is young, friendly and oh-so-cute with those perky ears. Chanel never misses a beat: she is always eager to get outside and stretch her legs on her daily walk, meet new friends and get to know them, or join you on your next activity, whatever that may be. Chanel loves being out in the yard with her pals. She loves playing with other dogs, especially young pups like herself. Chanel is comfortable around everyone too and, although she’s not in the business of asking for too much, she would really enjoy being in a home with another dog (she played with small dogs in a temporary home). Even though she doesn’t like sitting around a lot, Chanel does know her “sit” command and is always ready to listen to whatever you may teach her. Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
