My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Basil is a sweet kitty waiting for a loving home! He has experienced a lot of hardships before coming to Orphans and he deserves to spend the rest of his life feeling happy and safe with his family. He came to us from a partner rescue in Texas after being surrender with over 20 other cats. He was surrendered by a woman who claimed that her landlord would shoot all her cats if she did not remove them from her house. When he first arrived at the rescue he was terrified of everything and would hide. He was most comfortable around the other cats. Since then, he has made incredible progress in his confidence and socialization. He loves receiving gentle pets and scratches on his face, neck, and back. He enjoys his cat trees and looking out windows. His journey to the cat he is today has been one of an incredible transformation. He may need some time to settle into a his new home, but once he does he will make his people filled with so much joy to have Basil as their new companion!

We serve the pets and people in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our mission is clear: To take responsibility for each and every orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected dog and cat which reaches our doors; to take them in and shelter them; to provide the best medical and physical care possible for them; to nurture them back to health if need be; and finally to place them into warm, loving, adoptive homes where they can enjoy the lives they deserve.
