My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Ivy she is a young energetic Belgian Malinois. Who loves to be with her people all the time. She is the sweetest thing and she melts in your hands as she loves to be scratched behind her ear and check she literally will fall asleep as she did so when I was finally able to get her in my car. Back story April 25,2024 I drove about 5 miles north of my house where it’s noting but fields and a couple houses and a Church, after seeing several posts the past 3 days about these 2 dogs abandoned. I was just going to check it out because I am very familiar with this breed of dog and I know there are very few people who can handle them (I always like a little challenge). I had seen someone had posted that they had taken shelter at the church under the porch. When I pulled up I seen they were young had to be at least 6 maybe 7 months old. I was like I need to at least try so they can at least have a dry & safe place to stay and eat for a couple days until we figure something out. Ivy and here brother were so scared and tired and defensive. I wasn’t scared of them, I am just as stubborn. After about 2 hrs I had them both in my van. There were several people who had come by to check on them and a neighbor had given me some chicken to help bait her as I ran out of food with brother. When she jumped in the back of my van after much hesitation I jumped up to grab her so she would get down again (yes could of been dangerous not knowing this dog) this is the first time she melted in my hands with scratches reassurance and love. Fast forward Ivy has flourished so much since she has been in my house. She is very active, she loves kids she has been around 16 yr boy, 9 yr girl, 7 yr girl and 4 yr girl. She is so sweet and easy with them. She is learning to gain confidence. She is learning to kinda like the car rides, still a little scared at times but does really good! She loves to chase the flirt pole. She is so happy after a few rounds of chasing it. She is still scared of the kennel but I feel she is doing better than at first. She definitely needs a rough land kennel or stronger because she is a great escape artist. She definitely needs a job and she loves to please. She loves to be rewarded with good cheery words and scratches after using it outside! Ivy learns fast and loves being rewarded! My motto is a tired Mal is a happy Mal!!! She wants to be by my side and with my children at all times.
