My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roger is an 8 year old, 75ish lb Lab mix who is sadly looking for a home where he can spend his senior years. His owner has health issues which are causing the decision to rehome Roger. He is needing a home with no kids under the age of 16, as he is a resource guarder when he has something in his mouth and someone tries to get it from him, so the people he lives with with need to respect this, and work with it.

We are told "Roger can get a little excited when new people show but settles down quickly. He doesn’t have a fenced yard to run around in, so he is full of energy and due to his owners health, he does not get many walks. He would do well in a household with another dog for companionship, and a large fenced in yard so he can run free". He did used to have a doggie companion who passed away and he is said to miss his friend.

More about this rescue

Early in 1994, members of the Greater Louisville Golden Retriever Club began to see the need for an organization to rehabilitate and find homes for displaced and abused Golden Retrievers. A number of folks in this club began organizing an ad hoc rescue group. As the number of rescues increased over a period of months, this “wet behind the ears” group came up with a name and in 1996, incorporated the organization now known as Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND). The rest, as they say, is history!
