My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Look at this sweet-faced, beautiful boy! Bruce is a 5 yr old tri-colored smooth collie hoping for a forever home. He is adjusting to his new life in his foster home. Being new to the indoors, Bruce has shown some anxieties. He is nervous when going on stairs, hides when he sees his leash and is tentative with strangers. If someone new comes into the home, he is shy and cautious. His foster family is working on his behavior daily and they have seen great  progress. He is almost house trained and he is learning his commands. Luckily, Bruce is extremely smart and is motivated by treats and food. His foster family is confident he will continue to grow.

Bruce enjoys the company of other dogs. In fact, he is extremely happy and playful when he meets one. He loves to actively explore the outdoors and then is happy to go inside to his new surroundings. He settles in comfortably once the house quiets down and happily accepts the stillness of the home. He is building up a trusting relationship with his foster family and looks to them for daily snuggles and guidance. With patience, kindness and consistency, this timid gentle boy will continue to flourish.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs please go directly to www.almosthomeohio.org for an application. Once the application is submitted, our adoption team can discuss the information on the application with you to determine if one of our dogs would be a good fit for your home. Lastly, a home visit will be done either by one of our volunteers or another reputable rescue volunteer in your area. We do adopt out of state, but it is up to the adopter to come meet and take the dog home. Sound like a lot to go through for a dog? It really isn't as complicated as it seems and it's the best way to ensure a good match. Please contact adoptions@almosthomeohio.org with any additional questions you may have after reviewing the information on our website.

More about this rescue

Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is made up of a small (but growing) group of enthusiastic volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless dogs. Our background is with purebred collies and collie mixes but on occasion, we have other "family friendly" breeds. If you are searching for a collie, we'd like to help you find a wonderful companion that fits your family's lifestyle. All of our dogs are fully vaccinated and are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. They have also been tested and are negative for heartworm and are on heartworm preventative.
