FREYA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Freya Best Guess for Breed: Labrador mix
Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of May 2024 Gender: female
Approximate Weight: 47 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen Freya with cats or kids, but she can be tested.
Currently Living At: South Carolina shelter. Freya needs a foster or forever home in the DC area!
Special Adoption Considerations: Freya is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Freya is Looking For: A forever home! Hello there, I'm Freya. My days are filled with making new friends and giving out tail wags. I'm well out of my mischievous puppy phase, but I'm still excited to go for lots of walks and play with other pups at the dog park. My heart is as big as my loyalty. I'm smart too, you know, and I can't wait to try out obedience school with you. I'm a good listener, always eager to hear about your day. I promise to be by your side, to comfort you when you're down, and to celebrate with you when you're up. I've still got a lot of love to give, and I'm hoping to find a home where I can share it. Adopting me means gaining a friend who will always be there for you, no matter what.
What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this when Freya arrives in the DC area and spends some time with a foster.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
