Macy A46291858

Macy is a solid blue senior female who is affectionate and friendly and very sweet! She has been around other cats with a slow introduction and was born 6/2016.The CAP veterinarian diagnosed Macy with Stress Cystitis (aka Pandora Syndrome). Stress cystitis is the inflammation of the urinary bladder with no apparent cause. Certain cats respond to stress in different ways, and in some cats this "stress response can promote inflammation and pain in the bladder" (VIN). Our veterinarian recommends several things to help Macy prevent instances of Pandora Syndrome: 1. "-environmental enrichment: more litter boxes in the home, more frequent cleaning, encourage water intake (more dilute urine is less irritating to the bladder, therefore causes less irritation)" 2. "calming diet (Royal Canin Calm)" 3. "-calming supplements (zylkene sprinkle capsules for food, Feliway products)". Macy is a senior and if you are a senior as well (over 60) her adoption fee is waived by our senior for a senior program. (CC 5-27-2024)

Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
