Tucker has the biggest heart, which is a true testament to his nature considering his rough start in life. Tucker's first family abandoned him when he was a puppy, and he was badly injured. But some kind folks rescued him and he came to Florida to have knee and hip surgery. Doctors at Blue Pearl fixed his knee with five pins and also fixed his hip.
Tucker has done some exercises, some swimming, land rehabilitation, and can walk and run well. He is a very good leash walker. We found out recently he LOVES the beach, and he does well on the sand. He does limp sometimes, but it doesn't hold him back.
He can have pain in his injured area if it's seriously manipulated and because of that, he'd be best with a family with only older, responsible members.
Tucker is very eager to please and gain affection from everyone in the house. This goes for other dogs in the home too. He can be a little persistent about wanting to play or wanting to interact with the other dogs, but if given a firm "no", he will respect the other dog.
Tucker was curious about a cat in the home and wanted to play with the cat as well, but he was not aggressive. He did not chase.
He is also cautious around strangers at first. If strangers are scared of him, he gets scared. If you are happy, he is happy.
He would benefit from learning from an older dog; however, he would do well as an only dog as long as he is socialized. Which will be fairly easy because he likes going places and seeing new things.
Tucker is very special and would thrive with an adopter that is familiar with large breed males. He's very easy to correct he can't stand his person to sound disappointed.
If you're familiar with labs and bully breeds, he's pretty easy to figure out.
If you feel your family is a great fit for Tucker and you live in the central Florida/Orlando area please send in an application and let us know more about your family. â¤ï¸
