My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

She’s a spud-tacular sweetie!

Hello there! I’m Ms. Hot Potato, and if you're looking for a best spuddie, look no further! At 6 years young and 44 pounds, I’m an Airedale Terrier mix with a heart as big as my smile. I’m a sweet girlie with charm and a wagging tail that just won’t quit.

I had a bit of a ruff start, found myself with a dislocated hip and some pelvic fractures after a little mishap. But thanks to the kind folks at the Humane Society of Kauai, I got the care that I needed to get back on my paws. After some R&R, I made my way to TAP, where I’m now ready to find my foster-to-adopt furever family!

I currently take Carprofen for pain management as needed (~$15.00 for a month's supply). My injuries require bilateral FHO surgery, which will be an 8 week recovery. I may need a little extra TLC post-surgery, but don’t worry, I’m a trooper! With a bit of rest and some guided exercise, I’ll be back to chasing squirrels in no time. Plus, TAP’s got my back (both literally and financially) for the surgery and follow-up appointments – talk about a sweet deal!

I’m a social butterfly, friendly with both humans and fellow furry pals. Kids? Bring ‘em on! Despite my hot namesake, I’m as chill as a cucumber. Separation anxiety? Not a chance! Whether I’m snuggled up in my crate or lounging on the beach, I’m a laid back gal.

Speaking of beaches, I’m a water-loving pup who’s always up for an adventure. Whether it’s a car ride to the park or a cozy cuddle on the couch, you can count me in!

If you’re in the market for a for a loving companion who’s as loyal as they come, look no further than Ms. Hot Potato. I’d do great with kids or with any loving human. Access to the outdoors so I can do my business would be pawesome. So what do you say? Foster to adopt me! Together, we’ll be as iconic as ketchup and fries!

My adoption fee is $200 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
