Daphne is the most affectionate dog I've ever been around. For reference: I'm an ex-vet tech (8 years) and retired dog groomer (almost 40 years). She is very smart, agile- and would make an AWESOME agility dog. Her back story isn't so good. She was found with her littermates in a ditch in rural Missouri, taken in by a very overcrowded overwhelmed rescue lady, then fostered/ socialized by a Golden Retriever breeder friend of mine. Daphne had never been handled, had never been inside a house. She made great progress with my friend, who then placed her with me. Daphne was six months old when I got her. She did great here. I have two Goldens, 11 year old and 2 year old, both neutered males. Everything went fine for a couple of months. Then Daphne started growing up, becoming a dominant dog and challenging my 11 year old who IS the boss. We had a few fights, and although neither dog was injured, I can't risk it.
Daphne is leery of people she doesn't know but once she trusts you, LOVE!
