My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jim, affectionately called Jimbo!

Jim is a new arrival that came to us when his family was moving and couldn't take him along. Jim can't wait to find his forever home <3

While Jim can be a bit shy at first, it doesn't take too long for him to start exploring his new surroundings (especially with bribery - his beloved fresh veggies!). While doing his medical exam, we quickly discovered that Jim had painful nails that hadn't been trimmed in a long time that were affecting his walk and feet. Since being cleaned up and trimmed, he is feeling much better and is ready to meet that perfect someone(s)!

Never had a Guinea pig before? No problem! Check out our comprehensive care guide below. Adopters should be aware that like all pets, Guinea pigs are a life-long commitment that need proper cleaning, space, and veterinary care.

Interested in adopting Jimbo? Fill out an application online by scrolling down, OR, drop in to the branch between 12pm-3pm every day of the week except Monday to meet him in person!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
