Meet Merlin, a young, energetic, and playful dog who is always ready for a game of fetch, a car ride, a play session with toys or exploring the backyard and playing in the water. He`s friendly and cuddly, making him the perfect companion for cozy nights in. He is fond of petting sessions on the couch, snuggling up close for warmth and companionship. Merlin`s curiosity keeps him exploring and learning new things. He`s treat motivated so teaching him new tricks and commands is easy. He knows the sit, come, no and stay commands. He`s a little shy on occasion, but with a gentle touch and a warm smile, he`ll soon be wagging his tail in delight.
Merlin weighs 52 pounds and is house trained, crate trained and leash trained, a testament to his smart and adaptable nature. If he runs away while off leash, he`ll come back if you call him. He readily goes into crate both for rest and for safe space from those pesky robot vacuums! While there, he enjoys chewing on sturdy toys and watching everyone. He likes to jump and hug, mostly when he gets excited. He`s a hit with other dogs, always up for playdates and shared adventures. Cats find his easygoing nature endearing, while children are charmed by his friendly, gentle demeanor.
His adopters should note that he has spent most of his childhood in the shelter, for no fault of his so he`ll need your patience to teach him to be confident outside the house, especially cars on streets, sounds of machinery, sirens, etc. Even though he is one year old, he doesn`t have the experience of the real world but his foster is impressed with how gentle and we`ll behaved he is at home. He has free roam of the house when people are home but stays in crate otherwise. At night he sleeps in his bed in the main bedroom. He enjoys the company of a 5 year old, 75 pound dog, Jacob who is also available for adoption.
Why adopt Merlin? Because every home needs a bit of magic, and Merlin is ready to cast a spell of love and happiness on his forever family.
You can reach his foster, Ram at CAPdogfoster.com or 281-202-9076 with any questions or to meet him. (tw rr 6/19/2025)
