My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Wyatt! I was a stray before ESRA rescued me. I was dirty and stinky and had ear and eye infections that were so itchy and hurt so bad. But ever since my foster family took me in, I’ve been getting lots better. The vet gave me some medicine, so I try to hold really still while my foster parents put drops in my ears and eyes, but it’s scary, so I wiggle sometimes. I also got a bath and a haircut. My foster mama and daddy said I did a fantastic job during that process and that I’m a very handsome boy! I love to make them happy.

I’ve discovered all sorts of stuff that makes these humans happy! First and foremost, I am very gentle, super sweet, brave, playful, and friendly to adults and kids, and even to other dogs just like me. I only go potty outside, and the first time my family saw me do that, they were so happy that they danced and cheered. I was so excited that I chased them all over the yard, and then they chased me! It was the best day! I like to pose for the camera, especially since I get little pieces of hot dog, my favorite. And I love to eat my meals with my foster parents next to me; I like to include them so they don’t feel left out. I also met this thing called a cat. I don’t get it. It meows and prances around. I smell it sometimes, but that’s about it. And I don’t know if you’ve heard of this thing called a leash, but it seems that my foster mama is so proud of me because I don’t pull on it. She takes me on long walks with my Springer sister, and that’s so much fun! It’s one of my most favorite things to do, rain or shine.

I’ve even gotten to ride in a car a few times, but because I’m so little and it’s so big and so fast, it’s a little scary. I fidget when we go over bumps or pass big trucks, because that’s kind of exciting but also kind of scary. My foster parents talk to me and scratch my head, and then I feel safer.

I love to be outside in the sunshine, and sometimes I bark for a minute when people walk by. I just want to let my foster family know that our neighbors are around. But I do a good job of making my announcements brief!

I don’t quite understand squeaky toys and stuffed animals. They’re interesting, but I don’t know how to play with them yet. I'm learning, although I mostly love just to be near my foster family. At night, I sleep in a crate in my foster parents’ bedroom. I may feel a little lonely at first, but then I snuggle down into the warm blankets and fall right to sleep the whole night through.

I’m trying really hard to learn these goofy words that my foster mama and daddy are teaching me: Sit, Come, Wait, Heel, No Street, and Let’s Go. I’m best at Sit. However, I'm sure I'll catch onto the rest soon, because I’m a pretty quick learner!

I’m looking for a Forever Family who wants to be loved and adored because I promise to love you silly! I would do fine with a family with or without another dog, but a fenced-in yard to run and play in would be just the ticket! If you like fluffy ears to brush, a soft coat to scratch, and big brown eyes to talk to, then you might be a perfect match for little ol' me.

Love,
Wyatt
