Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Toughy is a “boss” dog and he doesn’t try to hide it. He is very dominant and does not let another dominant dog in the house. Both our other dogs are not bothered by Toughy’s domineering personality so all things are fine. Never any fights and they roughhouse frequently in the house and outside in the back fenced yard. But, for the most part, his dominant behavior is mostly for show. He is a very sweet boy once he knows you and can trust you, Toughy is 7 years old and weighs 12 pounds.
Other personality traits:
He will at times be the first in line to beg for treats. He goes to the cabinet and barks and whines until some one comes while the other two sit behind him to wait his success. He likes other people visiting the home and will be very loving and friendly to him. Likes to ride as long as it’s for pleasure. We ride through the neighborhood each night to see the other dogs and deer and any other wild life roaming about. He can figure out real quick if the ride is not for pleasure. If we head out the gates to the main road he starts shaking and really uncomfortable because he knows it PetSmart for grooming or Peaksview Vet. He doesn’t like either. He doesn’t care to visit with people outside the home. He might panic if cornered by young children. We have 3 small grandchildren in the home from time to time and they don’t bother him or the other dogs.
Unique characteristics:
Toughy loves to sit in your lap and wants a lot of rubs, and neck scratch BUT he will let you know when and how. If you try to move him or do anything he doesn’t like he growls and sounds very vicious BUT ISN’T. If you force him he will attempt to bite but not to hurt but just to get his way.
We do not make money on the yorkies we adopt to new families, we use whatever remaining money we have to help other yorkies in need. NC Yorkie Rescue, Inc. is a small group of dedicated and sincere yorkie lovers. We take all yorkies, regardless of age or health issues. We are in the process of applying for our 501(c)(3) and are a non-profit group. A home visit may be performed before the adoption is approved and an adoption application must be submitted and approved as well. All of our yorkies come with complimentary training sessions, either by a personal visit to the office or a telephone consultation, to help their transition into their new home. Please contact NCYorkieRescue@AOL.com for more information and be sure to visit www.NCYorkieRescue.org and fill out an adoption application, located on the top of the page - FORMS, to be eligible for adoption. Thank you for wanting to adopt a rescued yorkie, and please always spay and neuter your pets!
