My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buddy is a handsome Lemon colored beagle or possibly beagle mix about 1.5 yrs old. He is very sweet and so precious. He was quite rambunctious when he arrived, having lived with an elderly owner since he was a pup and was so excited to play with other dogs. He also was kept in his small puppy crate right up until he came to rescue, so he has been enjoying stretching his legs with a fenced yard. He will go into his more appropriate sized crate, but prefers to stay out, and since he is house trained/knows how to use a dog door he doesn’t necessarily have to be crated. He sleeps in the foster’s bedroom on a dog bed with the other foster dog and stays put all night.

Buddy has lots of energy and loves to play! He and another foster beagle play together all the time. They tug on toys together, chase each other in the backyard, and like to pull toys out of the toy bins and bring them outside. He would do well with a fur sibling around the same age and energy level. He will benefit from a basic obedience class to improve his leash manners and with consistency and patience he will continue to learn what is expected of a “good boy.” He has learned sit and does it quite happily already!

Buddy is relatively quiet. If he wants something he will whimper. If someone comes to the door or walks by the house, he will bark. He has a very strong and robust beagle bay. When people come through the front door, he is hesitant until the other dogs go up to them for pets. Once everyone is settled, he feels more confident and seeks out attention. He really enjoys people and the pets they give. Buddy has not had exposure to children or cats, but his exuberant young-dog personality should be taken into consideration when considering homes with kids/cats. Children over 8 would be best, if children are in the household.

Do you have an active dog who would love a new brother for Christmas? Buddy would be grateful to have a home for the holidays.
