Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPTION FEE: $300

1/20/08 - Rambo is having the time of his life!!!! As a matter of fact, Rambo ALWAYS has the time of his life when there are toys involved. Rambo LOVES toys.....especially the kind of toys that squeak non-stop or the soft stuffed toys that he can tear apart. He just loves his toys and he doesn't want any other pupster taking his toys from him.

As far as Rambo's health, he was diagnosed with MVD (microvascular dysplasia) a few years ago and given medications and put on a special diet. After a couple of years with following the doctor's orders, Rambo has improved greatly. He has done so amazingly well that he no longer needs to take his lactulose, although he is still on his low protein diet. Rambo has shown no signs of lethargy, seizures, air licking, head pressing or any of the other symptoms that come from having MVD. Rambo will be having another bile acids test done soon to see if his pre and post prandial numbers have changed. If so, then the medications have helped and possibly the liver has regenerated itself.

Besides the fact that Rambo is a very loving and precious boy, he is also an alpha boy. Of course, with a name like Rambo you wouldn't think him to be anything but the alpha dog. Rambo does get along with the other castle pups and every now and then we may have a little rumble and that's usually because someone stole a toy from Rambo. Like I said.....Rambo LIVES for his toys! Rambo is just the sweetest of furry knights here at Carly's Castle, but unfortunately he doesn't like to share his things. He loves getting the attention and really loves to play. He is truly one awesome little boy! Please don't let this little lover boy miss out on a wonderfully loving home of his own just because he has a special need.

Rambo arrived at Carly's Castle after his owners lovingly surrendered him to the Yorkie Kingdom. In August, 2005 Rambo began to have seizures and after his owners took him to their vet for testing, they were told that Rambo most likely had a liver shunt. The owners were given a few options on what to do for Rambo but after carefully looking everything over, they decided that what was best for Rambo, was to allow Yorkie Haven Rescue to take him. Rambo was born on Oct. 2002 and is a little on the thin side, weighing in at 6 pounds. The first thing we did was get Rambo to our vet to have more testing done. The results showed abnormalities with his liver and his bile acid numbers had doubled from when his owners had him tested last year. Rambo was then scheduled for a scintigraphy to determine, if in fact, he did have a liver shunt. The results came back that Rambo does NOT have a portosystemic shunt. Further testing with an ultrasound and biopsy revealed that Rambo unfortunately, has HMD or Hepatic Microvascular Dysplasia. HMD is managed by feeding a low protein diet and giving daily medications. At this time Rambo is on l/d Hills canned and/or dry food, Lactulose and Denosyl. I was also given a couple of low protein diet recipes from my vet to prepare for Rambo so he could have a little more variety when feeding him his meals. He has not had any more seizures since he was put on the lactulose back in August 2005. We can never tell the longevity of HMD dogs, but one thing is for certain and that is that Rambo can live a happy and fun-filled life as long as his new fur-ever loving owners are faithful about following the doctor's order and keeping him on the prescribed foods and medications. Rambo is an extremely sweet little boy who loves to give kisses and thoroughly enjoys life! He loves playing around with the other pups here at the castle but his all time favorite thing to do is wrestle and vigorously shake his stuffed toys. Rambo also appreciates having quiet time with one on one attention of snuggling and belly rubs.....he can never get enough belly rubs! If Rambo is tugging at your heartstrings and you are able to continue on with the foods and medications required to keep Rambo at his healthiest, then I invite you to fill out our on-line adoption application. Please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you for taking the time to care about Rambo.
