My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB: 8/94

Abby was an adult stray who was tamed and rescued by one of our foster caregivers. She joined the household as “cat number two” who was delighted to live inside and be gently bossed by Mittens the alpha cat.

When Mittens died, Abby grieved. After a while, this little cat’s purrsonality began to bloom, and Abby began to enjoy being the center of attention.

About a year later, Abby’s foster caregiver, Betsy, died peacefully at home after a long illness. Abby was bereft. The change made a huge impression on her, but fortunately, Betsy had made plans with JCHS for Abby’s continued care, so Abby’s transition to her new place was pretty smooth.

Although she was depressed, Abby’s really quite adaptable. She’s made some new cat friends and is chatty with her new caregiver. This cat is very easy to have around and she has a good sense of humor.

(Far too many beloved companion animals become instantly homeless upon the death of their caregivers. Please take time now to discuss options with your lawyer and make provisions for your animals in your will.)

Abby likes: to chatter at birds; to be with rather than to be on; playtime; other polite cats.

She dislikes: isolation; rude cats.

Abby is quite confident, does not hassle other cats, very adaptable, calm, and companionable.
