Meet Shorty, the happiest little 1-year-old Doxie mix you’ll ever meet! Weighing in at just 10 pounds, this compact cutie is full of charm, personality, and a love for life. Whether he's wagging his tail, trotting proudly on his leash, or greeting new friends, Shorty brings sunshine wherever he goes.

Shorty is a social butterfly who loves people of all ages and sizes. He’s always excited to make new friends and soaks up attention with joy. His easygoing, affectionate nature makes him a wonderful fit for families, singles, or anyone looking for a devoted companion.

He’s also a well-mannered little gentleman—Shorty is both house trained and crate trained, giving him great manners in the home. He walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys getting out for strolls, sniffing adventures, and time spent right beside his humans.

Shorty’s happy spirit, good manners, and lovable personality make him a dog who truly stands out. He’s ready to bring laughter, cuddles, and companionship to a home of his very own. If you’re looking for a small dog with a huge heart, Shorty is waiting to meet you!

Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for his entire life (up to 15+ years or more) - not just until his puppy cuteness wears off.

You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. Like most puppies, he may chew on anything within his reach to include but not limited to baseboards, shoes, socks, children's toys, electrical cords, plants, etc.

His adoption fee is $200. This includes his neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccinations, Bravecto®, Drontal® Plus, Tri-Heart® Plus Chewable Tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar.

Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org.

SASPCA Homeward Bound Dog Rescue and San Antonio Great Dane Rescue are 501(c)(3) foster-based rescue groups based in San Antonio, Texas.

Our group focuses on assisting open admission shelters in South Texas where over 32,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each year.

Our puppies and dogs are completely vetted and live in foster homes. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and tested for heartworm disease.

All adoptions include one month of flea and heartworm preventative and a leash and collar.

If your adoption application is approved and you are traveling from out-of-town, we hold your chosen pet for one hour past the event start time to allow for travel time.

We are an all-volunteer organization and do not currently have the resources to process out-of-state adoptions.

Additional adoption info

Adoption fees range from $150-500 depending on the dog. We require an application which you can find online at www.saspca.org. We have a 7 day trial adoption period before the final adoption is finalized.

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit rescue group powered solely by volunteers. We rely on the kindness of dog lovers to fund our organization. Every week one of our members is at the kill shelter saving dogs so we can get them good homes. In the mean time they are fostered in homes and treated as our own.

We hold weekly adoption events at the Petco at 18138 San Pedro (corner of 1604 & 281 next to the HEB) every Saturday from 11-4.
