My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Foster Update: Tere

Tere is settling in beautifully and showing more of her playful personality every day! She’s becoming more comfortable on leash and continues to improve with each walk. She’s especially curious—always eager to check out new smells, people, and critters along the way.

Tere is full of energy and loves to play. Her favorite things? Toys and a good game of fetch! She’ll happily chase after her ball and bring it back with tail wags and a big smile.

This fun-loving girl is thriving in her foster home and can’t wait to find a forever family who’ll enjoy her playful spirit and curious nature.

Meet Tere – Your Future Couch Buddy & Adventure Pal!
Fostered in Waterloo

Tere is a 3 year old 42lb sweet, playful Beagle/dachshund mix with a low-to-medium energy level who’s looking for her forever home. This lovely girl enjoys the simple things in life – a cozy dog bed, a comfy spot on the couch, and a good walk to explore the world with her nose leading the way.

The Basics:
• Dog-friendly? Absolutely!
• Cat-friendly? Untested
• Kid-friendly? Best with kids over 8
• Sleeps on: Dog bed and couch – total comfort queen
• Energy level: Low to medium – playful but chill
• Walks: Loves both short and long walks, but does need work on leash skills
• Shedding? Yes!
• Grooming needs: Regular brushing will help keep her coat in check

Personality & Training:
Tere is confident and friendly – no fear of people or new places. She can be protective of her food, so her foster is working on that using positive reinforcement. She’ll benefit from continued gentle training to reinforce good manners. She gets along well with other dogs and would do well either alone or with one other one in her home that’s of a similar size.

Home Requirements:
Tere needs a fenced yard and a detached home – she loves her outdoor time and is more of a barker when outside, so she will not suited for condo life. She can be left alone for up to 4 hours.

Exercise Needs:
She enjoys daily walks (and needs them to burn off her energy) and would do well with a dog walker or active adopter. Doggy daycare could also be a great outlet for her if introduced properly.

Ready to Meet Tere?
She’s full of love, always down for a walk or snuggle, and is ready to bring joy to a home that fits her needs. If you’ve got a fenced yard, a bit of patience for training, and a heart ready for love – Tere might be your perfect match!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to rescue and rehome unwanted, abandoned, abused and unloved pets that find themselves alone and frightened in shelters. These animals give unconditional love and should receive the same love back. Unfortunately there is a need and while ever there is a need we will be there to help. Our long term goal is to build towards the opening of our own shelter and be able to help with behavioral issues, special needs, and to offer a haven to less adoptable pets. We are always very thankful for any pet related donations to assist the animals in our care
