Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Can you be the fresh start I’ve been waiting for?
Hi, I’m Maverick. My life hasn’t been easy. I came all the way from Texas, where I was nearly out of time on the euthanasia list. When I first arrived in Skokie, everything was loud and unfamiliar—and honestly, it was pretty scary. But I’ve come a long way since then.
Here at C.A.R.E., I’ve found some amazing dog friends and get to be part of playgroups, which I love! I’m happiest when I’m playing, moving, and learning. Agility? I’m all over it. Obedience? I’m mastering the basics and proud of it. I’m a smart, active boy who truly enjoys having a purpose.
What I need now is a reliable, comfortable home—one where I can finally relax and feel safe. A fenced backyard would be amazing so I can stretch my legs and play freely. I’d also make an awesome walking or hiking buddy if you love being active too.
I’ve already proven I’m a survivor. Now I’m ready to be someone’s best friend. If you’ve got a spot in your heart (and your home) for a loyal, energetic guy with a soft side, I’d really love to meet you.
Always hoping,
Maverick

Our fees include a full medical exam by a veterinarian. This includes a Feline Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) test for cats, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, deworming and Spay/Neuter. Dogs receive a Heartworm Check, Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, Canine Flu Vaccine, deworming, and Kennel Cough preventative. Our modest adoption fees do not cover the procedures and vet work that we provide the animals. We fundraise to make up the difference. Any ongoing medical needs that C.A.R.E. is aware of are explained fully, (including daily medicine costs), to the potential adopter, and become the responsibility of the adopter.
