Tatum is approx.3-4 years old and weighs 13 pounds. He is one of a group of dogs we acquired from a home where there were 57 dogs and puppies. The people did the very best they could in the situation, but things quickly got out of hand because they didn’t have the resources to afford spay/neuter for the dogs, or for even basic vet care. The people were afraid they couldn’t find good homes for the dogs, so they simply kept them. The dogs were kept totally inside and paper-trained. Since being at FOTS they have all learned to use a doggy door and love going outside to eliminate and play in the fresh air and sunshine.
When FOTS was asked to help, we were happy to assist. We are providing spay/neuter for all 57 dogs and finding adopters for most of them. We are working with the people to find a manageable number of pets they can afford.
Some of the dogs are a little apprehensive, so homes with no small children are preferred. All the dogs are loving and friendly and are perfect “lap dogs” and will be great companions. Some have small hernias, some have overbites, and some will need teeth cleaning, We did not want to add more stress to their situation and opted to only provide spay/neuter and basic vaccines and parasite treatment.
