My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cherry!

Cherry was found as a stray in Paterson. Shortly after arriving at our shelter, we noticed that Cherry's tail was limp and dead, requiring amputation. Her tail injury has caused her some nerve damage, leading to partial incontinence. While she tries her very best to go inside the box, this does lead to her sometimes defecating in other spots, but this has become more and more infrequent as the weeks progress.

Despite her injury, Cherry is a super sweet and loving girl! She enjoys fluffy blankets to make biscuits on, lots of pets, and finding the perfect high up spots to take a long snooze. She's also a big fan of food and likes to play with the wand and her mouse toys!

After spending over seven months at the shelter, Cherry has lost out on so much of the affection and attention she deserves. She has so much love and affection to give and would be a perfect companion if given the chance! Cherry is not a fan of other animals and would be happiest in a home where she can be spoiled as an only child.

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
